The buzz about "The King's Speech"

Updated Tuesday, February 1, 2011  ::  Views (943)

This past weekend Keith and I were able to slip out for a bit to see a movie I have been dying to watch; The King's Speech.  Keith did not think it was the type of movie that would interest him, but he knew that I really wanted to see it, so off we went to the at Cambridge Centre.

I must say it was an incredible movie.   The acting was so phenomenal that you felt like you actually knew the characters.  Colin Firth was amazing as Prince Albert/King George VI.  Helena Bonham Carter was simply delightful as the woman who would eventually become known as "The Queen Mum" that it makes you hope that she was really like that in real life.  Lastly, Geoffrey Rush was quick and quirky but did an amazing supporting role as the therapist.

It really is a wonderful movie.  It is no wonder it is up for so many awards.  It is not surprising that all three actors who played the main characters are up for an Academy Award.  I hope they win.  They certainly deserve it.

For showtimes: Cineplex or Empire
