The AGO: King Tut Exhibit

Updated Tuesday, January 19, 2010  ::  Views (1135)

I had the chance to take the afternoon off and go to the AGO to see the King Tut exhibit.  Keith's parents gave us a membership to the AGO for christmas and we wanted to make sure we went and saw the King Tut display while it was in town.  The exhibit goes until April 18th and is quite fascinating if you're intrigued by history and/or ancient Egypt.  They had a fabulous array of different art work from many different Pharaohs and high ranking member's of the Egyptian community as well as 5 rooms dedicated to King Tut's tomb, displaying various items that were found in it.

The whole exhibit was quite interesting.  I would definitely suggest doing the audio tour since it gives you the background information about quite a few important items that you'll see.  I will also tell you that the sarcophagus, the golden casket we often associate with King Tut, is not on display.  That was the only thing it was lacking.  Overall, the whole exhibit was well done, it is very educational and intersting to see the details of various items from ancient times.

It took us about 2.5-3 hours to just get through the King Tut exhibit, so if you're planning on touring more of the AGO you'll want to make sure you go to Toronto early and make it a full day!
