The Academy Awards...

Updated Monday, February 28, 2011  ::  Views (1038)

What is it about the Academy Awards? I usually do not watch too many awards shows, although I will not miss these awards or the People's Choice Awards.  I enjoy watching the Oscar's because they seem to be the award of all awards when it comes to acting.  I am sure every actor or actress dreams of winning the coveted award, and those who win it feel incredibly honoured that this acknowledgement has been bestowed upon them.

One of the most entertaining parts of the show is the fashion!  My favourite from last night was Jennifer Hudson in her orange/coral gown.  It looked incredible on her and the colour was amazing.  Runner up would be Reese Witherspoon in her classic black and white number.  One reason I loved Jennifer's gown was because everybody else seemed to be wearing black, white or tan, and this set her apart.

I was incredibly happy that Colin Firth won for "The King's Speech" (you can read my blog about the movie).  He was fabulous in that film.  I have always been a fan of his and feel that he truly deserved this award.

For me, another highlight of the night was Kirk Douglas.  I thought it was amazing that the 95 year old screen legend presented the award for Best Supporting Actress.  Not only did he look fantastic for his age, but he had suffered a stroke in the past and did not let that stop him from appearing.  What an inspiration to us all.

I cannot wait to see what movies come out over the next 10 months and see who will be nominated next year.  You can continue to read movie reviews on my blog by checking back frequently!
