Oh Christmas Tree

Updated Monday, November 30, 2009  ::  Views (1116)

   This past weekend we got out all the Christmas decorations to decorate the house and put up the tree!  Since I was a kid we have always gone out and cut down our own tree, this is a tradition I have continued since I have always enjoyed it.   It is what officially puts me in the spirit of Christmas.  I love going out into the field, looking at all the trees, finding the perfect one then taking it home and decorating it.  We went out to Spruce Meadows Farm, the same place I have gone for quite a few years.  We were a week early since their official kick off is this weekend, although they were still open for those who needed one this past weekend.  I love going there since they're always playing Christmas carols, and they give you hot apple cider to drink...it just makes you feel like Christmas.  It also makes me think of all the times we went out to get our tree as a kid.

    For me, Christmas is best time of the year.  During the course of the year there are so many great times that we have with family and close friends but once Christmas comes around it feels like it is a whole month of non-stop gathering with these people who play important roles in our lives.  It allows us to spend quality time together and reflect upon the relationships we have with those people.  It also is a great time to remember those people who we love that are no longer with us.   This Christmas, take a moment to think of all the things there are to be thankful for in life...remember all the happy memories of Christmas past, then take a look at all the new memories you get to create this Christmas and in the future.
