Burton Cummings at the Centre in the Square, Kitchener

Updated Wednesday, May 18, 2011  ::  Views (1458)

Last night Keith and I went and saw Burton Cummings at the Centre in the Square in Kitchener.  I was lucky enough to WIN tickets from The Museum in Kitchener through twitter (follow them @THEMUSEUM).  I never win anything, so it was a complete surprise!  I was thrilled because I absolutely LOVE The Guess Who!  I had the privilege of seeing Cummings at Oktoberfest 3 years ago and jumped at the chance of seeing him again.

Cummings played for 2 hours which was amazing considering he said he has been fighting a chest cold.  He sounded great, especially when he was hitting low notes.  He sang almost all his Guess Who hits (American Woman, These Eyes, Laughing etc) and many of his solo hits (including Break it to them Gently).  The only song he didn't sing that I absolutely love is Undun.  He didn't sing it at Oktoberfest either, so it may be one of the songs he never sings in concert.  It was a wonderful show from a man who next year will be celebrating 50 years in the music business!
