Nurse-Pracitioner Clinic Comes to Cambridge!

Cambridge is home to the regions first nurse-pracitioner clinic. This is one of 25 nurse practitioner clinics opening across Ontario. There will be one opening in Kitchener's Pioneer Park area in June of this year. The Cambridge clinic is located on Water St in downtown Galt. A nurse practitioner can make medical diagnosis, order tests and prescribe medications, so it is definitely worth while to visit them. There are 2 physician consultants for back-up incase of a difficult diagnosis or if a referral to a specialist is required. The clinic also has a social worker, dietitian and pharmacist on hand. I can't believe this was not thought of before now since we have always had a shortage of doctors. It's a fabulous idea and I hope the people in Waterloo Region take full advantage of these facilities.

I was recently asked my opnioin on nursing shortage and some comments made on whether they pay nurses too much ..My reply . Can you really pay a nurse too much for being with you or your family when they are sick or possibly dying? A life or death decision which usually comes from the nurse as SHE/HE are the ones at the bedside with the patient. Is it really too much to pay us for risking our lives every day being exposed to all of the diseases that patients have and we give our all to care for? I say absolutely NOT when we are paying millions to say ..a football player, an actor or people who only entertain our lives. Has it gotten that bad that our actual life and those who care for it aren't worth much??????????
